PREFACE

For over two thusand years, the Iranian (persian) Carpet has been a symbol of art, history and romance of very ancient civilization. Despite many advancement in technology used to produce machine-made carpets, the hand-woven carpets have retained their place as an attractive, valuable and masterful product.

THE DESIGN

Due to the great number of cultures in Iran, there is nearly an endless diversity in the designs of Persian carpets, and all have their roots in the tribal and regional traditions and natural conditions in which the weavers live.

THE DYING PROCEDURE

The Persian rugs continue to become distinguished and brilliant as they age.

A factor contributing to this unique ability is the colours of vegetable matter used in the dying process of Persian wool. Dying in Iran is a pricise and specialized profession.

The experienced dyers are carrying on the old and glorious traditions of the past that no other dyers in the world have the expertise to perform.

PERSIAN RUGS

The persian carpets satisfy aesthetic feeling as well as practical needs: their merit as a beautiful and decorative addition to the home is matched by their value as a safe and ever-increasing investment. So there are increasing number of people, throughout the world, who wish to possess a genuine Persian rug.

Since the Persian carpet, in all aspects, have supremacy over hand-woven carpets from other countries. they have been selected as the best for imitation.

Patterning after the Persian rugs has become a vast occupation in many countries.

While the genuine rugs constantly become better and elegand and their value appreciates, the imitated ones short of the characteristics of the authentic Persian carpets, and continuosly, like any other ordinary floor covering, lose their value.

There are numerous reasons why the Persian rugs retain supremacy.

HISTORY

It is believed that the ancient art of carpet weaving was originated first in Iran. The Pazyrak Carpet, with Persian origin, is a proof of tow and half thousand years of carpet weaving in Iran. This carpet, which has been found in the western Altai (Outer Mongolia),  picture below, Is now in the Hermitage Museum of Saint petersburg  (Russia).
